Teaching ethos
I take a student centric approach to learning experience (LX) design.
This means I start first and foremost with the student in mind. Content is second.
I see my role as an educator involving:
- 70% being patient and empathetic,
- 20% being about bringing the subject to life and inspiring students to be inquisitive.
- 10% about imparting knowledge in a ‘Googlable’ world.
I believe this breakdown leverages the power of the Pareto principle in my classes.
I’m inspired by these comments. I decided to share them with you, unedited.

the seminar were really what made me understand well this course Vashisht Bhatt was really great!
Vashisht is by far the best seminar teacher I have had this year. He can explain the most complex concepts in a way that makes them easy to grasp. Without his seminars, I definitely would not have been able to follow the module content as easily.
Vash is really good at explaining the solutions of each seminar question and is willing to answer students’ questions. His PowerPoint is also very clear and the delivery is on point.
He didn’t provide us with his email so it was difficult to contact him because I had a seminar during his office hours.
this seminar was just great one of the best of my first year. thank you again you made the subject really clear and somewhat easy.
I enjoyed my seminars with Vashisht
Excellent at explaining things and encouraging questions
Vashisht is very good at explaining the solutions to the seminar questions, and as well as telling us how to get to the answer, he tells us also why that would be the answer as well. He encourages us to ask questions if we are unsure, though I had no questions to ask
The seminars are very fast-pace and it is hard to keep up, especially as the answers aren’t posted until later.
Vash was really good at teaching. He is patient, understanding, and he wouldn’t think any of the students of being less smart if we are just asking a really basic question and would even make sure and explain it twice just to make sure we understand. His lessons are also very encouraging and interactive. Although the lessons go by really quickly and he speeds through a lot of the content (restriction of time), we can often ask him quesitons after the lesson and he would still be happy to help.
Vashist was the best seminar tutor I had in my first year. He always clarified class material clearly and with ease. I enjoyed going to his seminars
Not his fault, but one-hour seminars are not enough, seminar questions are done so quickly, barely have the chance to understand
he is one of the best seminar tutors I had. his solutions are easy to understand and I barely have any questions left after he explains a question. he also explains well when we ask questions. however, the seminar slides are not available after, and i’m never free during his office hours. so I think he should leave some more time to take pictures of the slides during the seminar
Never had such a brilliant teacher. Excellent at explaining things, patient with questions, excellent powerpoints and overall very impressive. Thank you for a very valuable seminar.
Vashisht Bhatt is a very good seminar tutor. He has explained the theory very well and been helpful as well as encouraged students to ask questions and supporting those who do. I would even go as far as to say that Vashisht should be a lecturer in this module.
Really good at explaining questions even though the content is too difficult to understand. He made the seminar interesting so even if I do not understand every single content of the module I still love to go to the seminars.

Very good seminar tutor who explained concepts very well.
Vashisht is great at explaining things and made seminars very interactive and lively.
the way of his explanation is really good and easy to understand
Vash explains things really well and encourages interaction in the class.
Before delving into the seminar questions, he always sets the scene and ensures all students are on the same page.
Explained things so clearly in an interesting way
It is made clear to me the objectives of the days and he keeps track of the time very well.
he has very clear and fluent flow in explaining the answers. great ppt made. but sometimes too fast to catch up with what he’s saying, easily get lost on his seminar.
A bit slow-paced at times. Too caring for everyone which results in us wasting time on idiots who don’t prepare before coming to the seminars.
very kind and patient, explains really well
He showed us different ways to approach the questions, which lead to better understanding of the module
Very engaging, eager to answer questions
his seminars were very interactive and well structures. The slides had all the steps of workings and clear. also, he gives an overall view of the topic before starting which is very easy to understand

I would have liked to having all my seminars with Vashisht. I think he is the best teacher I have met at WBS.
I found it good to have two people explain some of the theories. He has a very different teaching approach than Kebin, which overall benefited my understanding since it complemented the material covered in lectures . Maybe some statements were not entirely accurate during his teaching, but that might have been because of lack of time to prepare.
using the ppt to go over the calculation part of questions makes it a bit hard to catch up.
Good pace, engaged with students but didn’t push people if they clearly didn’t know. Easy to understand and made the models more exciting as was not monotone. Wanted him for every seminar!
I felt that I understood Vashisht better and I could concentrate better in his seminars and people seem more willing to ask questions in front of the class whereas students in Kebin’s seminars preferred to ask them privately.
pretty clear on explaining things and make the seminar interesting. But might go through things a bit too fast.
interesting seminar tutor, able to explain things clearly, very helpful
Seminars were very clear and when Vashisht was asked questions beyond the scope of the model he explained, he was happy to answer and give an idea how this case may perform under alternative scenario.
We only had one seminar with Vashisht, but he was outstanding. He made sure everyone understood the content, particularly the most difficult parts, and he actively encouraged our participation.

I mostly understood his seminar sessions. However, I think it would be better to streamline the notations with what was used during the lecture to avoid confusion.
Vashisht sometimes talks a little bit too fast
I have been taught by Vashisht only once. One thing that I would like to note is that he went through the seminar questions very fast.
vashisht could really slow down when he teach the seminars.
